Matinée Concerts
Verdi: Nabucco – overture – Starter
Paganini: Violin Concerto No. 1 in D major, Op. 6 – 1st movement (Allegro maestoso – Tempo giusto) – Main course
Donizetti: Don Pasquale – “Cheti, cheti immantinente” (Rapid duet of Malatesta and Don Pasquale, Act 3) – Dessert
For the starter, we have Nabucco (just the overture, of course), which in 1842 managed to bring Verdi nothing less than long-awaited worldwide fame. The main course to follow consists of a movement by Paganini that reveals the influence of bel canto, linked to the aforementioned Rossini among others and its virtuosity has captivated the entire musical world. And for dessert, the Hungarian National Orchestra will be serving a veritable heaping helping from Donizetti’s confectionery shop.
