Matinée Concerts
Janáček: The Cunning Little Vixen – prelude – Starter
Smetana: The Moldau – excerpt – Main course
Dvořák: Slavonic Dance in E minor, Op. 72 No. 2 – Dessert
What comes to mind if you think of Czech gastronomy? Don’t be coy – it’s beer, of course. Well, together with the dumplings, abundant meat and cabbage garnish served alongside it. There is Jiří Menzel for fans of cinema, and Hašek and Hrabal for literature lovers. Yet there are also plenty more delicacies to come. Janáček’s opera disguised as a fairytale that exalts the natural world, for example. Perhaps after its prelude, it will be easier to skip the meatier dish. At this concert, the main calories come from the second part of Smetana’s Má vlast cycle, while Dvořák will be taking care of your figures as he invites the audience for a dance… All impeccably served up by the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra. Bon appetit! Or as the Czechs would say, na zdraví!
