Gregory Vajda is a Hungarian conductor, composer and clarinettist. Born in 1973, he studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Between 2011 and 2014, he served as the principal conductor of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Since the end of his tenure there, he has been the ensemble’s principal guest conductor. He was appointed music director and conductor of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra in the United States in 2011. He has also been artistic director of the UMZE New Music Ensemble since 2018 and is currently programme director of the Péter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation. He frequently guest conducts ensembles, orchestras and opera companies around the world.
