I feel grateful and thankful in my heart to be able to sing here in the Hungarian National Choir and for this to be my profession.
My name is Katalin Halmosi. I graduated with a degree in voice. I am a founding member of the Hungarian National Choir's alto section, which I left for ten years in order to sing opera roles in Germany.
My roles:
Verdi: Aida ‒ Amneris
Verdi: Nabucco ‒ Fenena
Verdi: La traviata ‒ Flora
Verdi: Rigoletto ‒ Maddalena
Bizet: Carmen ‒ Mercédès
I made my Hungarian State Opera début as Maddalena.
Oratorios:
Mozart: Requiem ‒ alto solo
Verdi: Requiem ‒ alto solo (conducted by Mátyás Antal and Tamás Pál)
Dvořák: Requiem ‒ alto solo (conducted by Zsolt Hamar)
Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 ‒ in Germany
I have also performed in an opera gala at Szombathely's Bartók Hall under the baton of Tamás Pál.
In Miskolc, I also sang in a Christmas concert with László Kovács conducting.
In addition, I sang a recital at Hungarian Radio's Marble Hall, with Dóra Bizják accompanying me on piano.
In 2016, at the Budapest Spring Festival, I appeared as the Old Gypsy Woman in Rachmaninov's opera Aleko, with Zoltán Kocsis and the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra in the orchestra pit.
In 2018, I sang Azucena's aria Stride La Vampa from Il trovatore at a Verdi gala with the Duna Symphony Orchestra and Csaba Somos.
Then, in 2019, choir manager Antal Tóth asked me to sing Il poveretto in a Verdi recital, with Bizják once again accompanying me on piano.
She accompanied me yet another time that year, at a Rossini and Donizetti gala held at the Hungarian National Museum, where I sang Rosina's aria from Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia.
