Zenei tanulmányait 5 éves korában kezdte Major Edit növendékeként. 2007 szeptembere óta a LFZE doktorandusz-hallgatója és 2009 februárjától az Egyetem óradíjas tanáraként tanít. Számos verseny díjazottja, 2002-ben elnyerte a "Legművészibb előadás" különdíját is a Los Angelesi Nemzeti Zongoraversenyen.2009-ben pedig "Junior Prima" Díjat kapott.
László Borbély was born in 1984 and started piano lessons at age five. He enrolled in the "Rácz Aladár" Music School where his teacher was Edit Major. In 1998 he graduated to the "Bartók Béla" Secondary School of Music where his teacher was Professor Mariann Ábrahám. In 2002 he was admitted to the Liszt Academy of Music where he came under the tutelage of Professors György Nádor and Balázs Réti.
In Hungary, László has received competition honors including the First Prize in the 1998 Piano Competition in Budapest, the Third Prize in the 1998 National Piano Competition, the Grand prize for the 2001 National Piano Competition for Secondary Schools, 2002 Yamaha Scholarship Award at the Liszt Academy, the Special Prize of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in the 2003 National Competition of the Hungarian Radio, and the First Prize at the 2004 Andor Földes Piano Competition, Budapest.
Overseas he was awarded the Second Prize at the 2001 EPTA International Competition for young pianists in Osijek, Croatia. Several prizes including "the most artistic performance" for different categories at the 2002 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition; and most recently in April, 2005 the Educational Award at the London International Piano Competition as been awarded to him.
László performed recitals in Zagreb, Croatia (2001), Florence, Italy (2003), Tallahassee and Sarasota, Florida (2003), Bergen, The Nederlands (2004), and Timisoara, Romania (2004).
László participated in master classes by Dmitrij Bashkirov in Budapest; Livia Rév in Paris; and; Mikhail Voskressensky, Pjotr Paleczny, and Jan Marisse Huizing in the Netherlands. He also participated for several summers in the International Bartók Seminar in Szombathely, Hungary.
