He graduated from the Novosibirsk Academy of Music as a singer, teacher and chorus leader. He became a soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera, and later in other cities in his country: Saratov, Ufa and Dushambe. He won first prize at the prestigious Sobinov Competition in Saratov in 1991. In Russia he has sung all the major baritone roles of operatic literature, and worked with many renowned conductors. After his repeated visits as a guest singer, he joined the Hungarian State Opera House in 1992, and he has been a member of the company ever since. He is also known as an oratorio singer in Hungary and abroad as well. He has toured numerous European countries as well as Japan, Israel and Egypt. In 2004 he was granted the title Honourable Artist of the Hungarian Republic.
