It is an interesting question to ask why exactly someone would decide to make a career out of singing in a choir. The answer is that it is really done out of love! None of us could imagine any other line of work that is so invigorating and varied! The most fantastic aspect of all is being able to make music together, bringing something to life over and over again. To make music together and enjoy the Wonders that music has given us, all with the utmost sincerity and attention to the tiniest details.
My name is Aliz Andrea Kiss. I was born in Békéscsaba, where I spent the first few years of my life. Soon enough I found myself in Budapest, where I immediately enrolled in a music primary school (Hunyadi János Primary School). Later on, I attended a conservatory (the King Saint Stephen High School of Music) and the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. For me, there was never any doubt about becoming a musician. At most it was the exact path that would change. I started out studying piano in primary school, but I also took part in numerous singing competitions on the side. At the conservatory, my main concentration was on solfège and music theory, and I also learned how to conduct there, in addition to starting the singing course. At the Liszt Academy, it was to the choral conducting department that I applied and was admitted. During my university years, I won a special prize at the Rezső Lantos National Choral Conducting Competition in 2014 and the award of the Zoltán László Bácsi Student Support Foundation in 2015. I had the chance to conduct several choirs (and I currently also conduct a male choir). This is also when I got to know my current voice teacher, Dr János Klézli, with whom I have studied voice since starting university. Thanks to the diverse path that led me here, I had the opportunity to take part in all kinds of dramatic productions even before I started to work here, and also sang across the world under the batons of many fantastic conductors. I am fortunate to be able to continue all this with the Hungarian National Choir. In fact I even recently got the chance to sing with them in the city of my birth! Singing for my family was the most moving experience of my life!
